Butter & Egg Days on April 28, 2018 "A Parade is Hatched” Celebrating the 100th Anniversary of National Egg Day

And the 1st Egg Day Parade held in 1918

Announcing the  2018 Butter & Egg Days Parade Theme “A Parade is Hatched!” celebrating the 100th anniversary of National Egg Day held in 1918.  Petaluma’s National Egg Day Parade was featured in newsreels, where floats with giant chickens boasted that Petaluma, home to six million hens laying 600 million eggs and Petaluma was proclaimed as the “Egg Basket of the World!”

While the news coming out of Petaluma today is less egg-centric, there’s always lots of interesting, fun, delicious and sometimes quirky stories to share. Petaluma proudly embraces its past, and it’s an evolving community, this year’s theme gives us the opportunity to celebrate our roots and acknowledge how far we have come in the last 100 years.

We have so many wonderful traditional businesses, both agricultural related, small businesses and corporations hatched here, along with new start-ups and relocating businesses, which have, and continue to put Petaluma on the map!

“We are very excited about the opportunity to acknowledge the many special people, cultures, businesses, and organizations that have contributed to Petaluma’s growth and reputation as a city from the past continuing to the present day.

This year’s Butter & Egg Days event will again be presented by Petaluma Poultry’s Rocky & Rosie, the event’s premier sponsor. Clover Stornetta Farms will return to lead the Clover Kids’ Parade, which precedes the main parade with a procession of preschoolers and primary grade youngsters and their families. Other sponsors are being signed up now, with a deadline of March 9th  for major recognitions.
